Barbara Lüneburg with ensemble Intégrales

length: two days (including final student concert) plus a concert of ensemble Intégrales on the pre-night

aiming at: string, woodwind, piano, percussion and composition students

pre-night:
Concert ensemble Intégrales

 

1st day/ morning:
Overview Over Extended/New Instrumental Techniques and their notation in instrumental specific groups. Practical training/application at the instrument! Examples of literature.
  • violin/viola (left and right hand techniques like col legno battuto with the screw of the bow- producing determined pitches, pitch producing thumb's nail pizzicato in guitar hold, arco on the fingerboard behind the left hand with exact notated pitches, harmonics, double stop glissandi, quarter notes, whistling, singing and “tap dancing” going along with playing the violin, scordatura)
  • piano (inside-piano like playing on the strings and the corpus, overtones etc )
  • saxophone (subtones, slaps, multiphonics, noise sounds, playing in combination with singing)
  • percussion

1st day/ afternoon:
Improvisation Workshop including the incorporation of the extended instrumental techniques

  • general guide to improvisation
  • practical training:
    - realization of a grahical score (by Carl Bergstroem-Nielsen)
    - improvisation to a tape (by Mayako Kubo “Bach Variationen”)
    - free improvisation

2nd day/ morning and early afternoon:
Chamber Music Workshop: possibly division of the whole group into smaller ensembles

  • “Living Room Music” (John Cage)
  • time-bracket pieces (John Cage)

2nd day/ late afternoon and early evening:
Preparation of the Final Concert:

  • arrangement of the stage
  • organization of the stage appearance and management under aspects of the stage, acoustic and visual circumstances


If wanted the workshop will include the possibility for students to get single or chamber music lessons with in advance prepared pieces on both days.

2nd day/ night:
Final Concert of the Students

  • Improvisation
  • John Cage time bracket pieces
  • John Cage “living room music”
  • possibly pieces from the single or chamber music lessons
